HarperNorth Granted Access All Areas with Sacha Lord’s Tales from the Dance
Floor

HarperCollins today announces the upcoming publication of Tales from the Dance
Floor, a book on Manchester’s nightlife co-authored by Warehouse Project co-creator
and Greater Manchester’s Night Time Economy Adviser Sacha Lord and bestselling
author Luke Bainbridge. World All Language Rights were acquired directly from the
co-authors by non-fiction editor Ben McConnell.

Tales from the Dance Floor offers an immersive journey through Manchester
vibrant music scene, tracing its evolution over the past three decades. Sacha Lord,
synonymous with the city's nightlife, shares his personal experiences and explores
the challenges faced by the music community. From the legendary Haçienda to The
Warehouse Project and Parklife – Sacha accounts provide colourful stories of
Manchester’s vibrant – and at times lairy – nightlife.

Structured around three pivotal eras from the city’s cultural history – 1990s, 2000s,
2010s – the book will reveal never-before-told stories that reflect the shifting
landscape of Manchester's music scene and the industry at large. Sacha tales
range from encounters with gangsters during the notorious Gunchester era to
unforgettable moments with countless music icons.

Ben McConnell, non-fiction editor at HarperNorth said: ‘Tales from the Dance Floor
isn’t your standard history of a city – it pays homage to the spirit of Manchester and
the individuals who have shaped this city. Sacha and Luke’s energy is infectious, and
we can’t wait to publish it at HarperNorth.’

Sacha Lord says ‘I’m delighted to be joining HarperNorth. I didn’t want to do a
straight memoir, I really wanted to do something much more creative and interesting
that would surprise people, and HarperNorth were really excited by that idea. The
Warehouse Project and Parklife are now known throughout the world, but there’s so
many stories about how we got here that people don’t know, that I’ve never told. Now
feels like the right time to tell the full story.’

Luke Bainbridge says, ‘I’ve known Sacha for 25 years and he has a wealth of
incredible stories to tell, not just about clubland and dealing with iconic DJs and
artists, but also the underbelly of nightlife. It’s a fascinating story of incredible highs
and a few lows. How Manchester reinvented itself as a post-modern city, and how
clubbing has gone from a lawless nocturnal underworld to a multi-million-pound
business.’

Tales from the Dance Floor will publish in April 2024, supported by a marketing and
publicity campaign.
