When I joined the NTIA, I knew I was stepping into something important. What I didn’t expect was just how much I’d genuinely enjoy being part of the team behind it.

We work well together, not by chance, but because of how we treat each other.

If someone needs a hand, they get it. No awkwardness, no hesitation. Just genuine support from people who want to see each other do well.

Over time, those working relationships have turned into real friendships. The kind where you can have a proper laugh, a rant, be honest, air frustrations, and know someone’s always got your back, even when it’s busy, even when things get tough.

We’ve built a culture that makes turning up on a Monday feel easy. Feedback is normal and always useful, ideas are welcomed, and meetings are weirdly enjoyable. There’s usually some good chat and snacks, which is very important!

We’re always learning, not just through training, but by being around smart, passionate people. Everyone brings something different, and we all lift each other up.

There are no silos here, no gatekeeping. Just a team of people who care about the work and care about each other.

We’re doing something that matters, protecting and championing the night-time economy and doing it as a proper team.

It’s rare to find a group like this: supportive, driven, full of purpose, and genuinely fun to work with. But that’s what makes it click, and what makes it so rewarding to be part of.

Some of us at the NTIA have worked together for years. We’ve built trust, found our rhythm, and created a way of working that just works.

What’s been incredible is seeing how newer members of the team have slotted right in, not by copying or playing catch-up, but by picking up the energy, the culture, and the pace, and really thriving in it.

And honestly, that’s not surprising.

If you’ve worked in late-night hospitality or live events, this vibe won’t feel unfamiliar. The sense of camaraderie, the way people show up for each other, and the trust you build in high-pressure moments are what make this industry so special.

What is rare, though, is how often we talk about it.

We don’t always shout about what makes a great team actually work: the shared values, the humour, the honest conversations, and the creative problem-solving that only happens when people feel safe and supported.

It’s that stuff, the human stuff, that makes all the difference.

Maybe that’s why so many people love working in the NTE world. Why they stay. Why, even after a tough shift, a packed-out show, or a late finish, they still come back the next day ready to go again.

At the NTIA, we’re proud to be part of that culture, and even prouder to help protect and celebrate it.
