This is not an issue affecting one part of hospitality alone. It is being felt across pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants, live music venues, casinos, nightclubs, hotels, festivals, event spaces, promoters and the thousands of businesses that make up the UK’s night-time economy.

Rising operating costs, reduced consumer spending and ongoing pressure on margins continue to place huge strain on operators. A reduction in VAT would give businesses vital breathing space, helping them protect jobs, invest in their venues, support their teams and keep our high streets, town centres and cultural spaces alive.

The night-time economy is a major contributor to the UK’s social, cultural and economic life, but businesses need meaningful support if they are to remain viable and continue serving their communities.

The NTIA is urging all businesses, workers, suppliers, customers and supporters of hospitality and nightlife to get behind the #VATsTheProblem campaign.
