has found a drastic increase in anxiety and stress linked to a dead or dying phone whilst out at night
in the UK.

The recently published report investigates the link between phone battery and night-time safety,
with findings highlighting the pressing need for venues to offer a source of connectivity to loved
ones for night goers.

64% of females answered that they felt either scared or anxious when their phone battery is dying
whilst out at night-time. Following the recent wave of awareness of night-time safety since the
death of Sarah Everard in March 2021, the recent media attention of spiking, alongside the
increased use of tech to assist those travelling home alone (apps such as WalkSafe), the importance
of mobile devices for safety has never been higher.

In particular, young people believe their smartphones are now more important to them whilst out at
night than their wallets are. With much of night-time transport now app-based (Uber, Bolt, Oyster
etc.) a charged smartphone has become paramount to ensure a safe journey home.

Research carried out prior to the Covid-19 outbreak shows that across the UK, over 12million nights
out were abandoned due to a dead or dying phone. When considered against average consumer
spend, the result is a staggering £372 million of lost revenue for the hospitality industry as a whole –
over £1m per day.

Following the impact of Covid-19 on digital transformation and the increased need for mobile
devices in hospitality, this figure is likely to have risen further since the date of initial research.
NTIA and Joos’ joint report provides alarming evidence that mobile phone charging has moved to
become of vital importance to the hospitality industry keeping its consumers safe. The NTIA have
partnered with Joos as their official charging partner to provide power bank rental charging stations
to venues across the country at no cost to the venues.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][nectar_btn size=”small” button_style=”regular” button_color_2=”Accent-Color” icon_family=”none” text=”VIEW SURVEY” url=”https://www.ntia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/NTIASafetyWhitepaper.pdf”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
