The UK Government has announced its Extended Knife Surrender Arrangements 2025, a month-long initiative aimed at reducing the number of knives and offensive weapons in public circulation. Running from 1 July to 31 July 2025, the scheme provides members of the public with a safe, anonymous way to surrender items like ninja swords, knives, and other prohibited weapons.

What is the Knife Surrender Scheme?

Throughout July, individuals can dispose of unwanted or illegal weapons via secure surrender bins or a dedicated mobile surrender van, operated by FazAmnesty. This initiative runs alongside a ninja sword surrender and compensation scheme, offering a financial incentive to those handing in certain items. All weapons must be disposed of safely and discreetly.

How to Surrender a Weapon

You have two safe and legal options for surrender:

1. Mobile Surrender Van

Available at scheduled times and locations across Greater London, West Midlands, and Greater Manchester, the mobile van offers an accessible alternative to police stations.

  • A FazAmnesty team member will guide you through the process
  • No personal information will be collected
  • Items are securely deposited into a locked bin inside the van

For exact dates and locations, check Annex A.

2. Surrender Bins

Permanently located in safe public areas across the same three regions, these bins are clearly marked and regularly monitored.

  • Wrap and seal items in a bag or box before arriving
  • Do not carry weapons openly in public
  • Once deposited, do not attempt to retrieve the item

Find your nearest bin in Annex B.

3. Safety First: How to Transport Items

All items must be:

  • Wrapped securely in a sealed bag or box
  • Concealed from view in public
  • Transported in a way that does not cause alarm

Carrying knives or bladed articles without a good reason is a criminal offence. Travelling to a surrender site as part of this scheme is considered a valid reason.

Do you have a ninja sword or another weapon to dispose of? Don’t delay. The surrender period is only open for 31 days in July. Take action now to help make communities safer.
