HOW DOES WELLBEING LINK INTO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION?
Many Diversity and Inclusion policies direct their efforts towards assessing diversity based on their underrepresented characteristics, but the truth is, we cannot fully understand diversity and inclusion if we do not understand how people feel.
Wellbeing is about creating safe spaces for people whilst providing opportunities to develop and grow. Within the current pandemic, we are all fighting to survive, but there is also a silent pandemic of deteriorating mental health that we must recognise and support, particularly within underrepresented groups.
The NTIA wants to bring together real solutions and pathways for support, not just by identifying what that looks like for individuals but also helping businesses to learn how to reach out, manage and support their people.

To us, affecting change isn’t about re-writing a policy, or creating a code of conduct to make sure a company can demonstrate their efforts at being diverse and inclusive, and complaint. It’s about forging alliances with organisations who empower access via the culture they live and breathe in everything they do, keep talking about it, evolving and acting on it and share best practice to make sure their culture stays alive and vibrant in their everyday working lives.
The NTIA wants to bring together real solutions and pathways for support, not just by identifying what that looks like for individuals but also helping businesses to learn how to reach out, manage and support their people. For us it isn’t about changing a policy, it’s about changing our culture, to learn, develop and grow together.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
Over the next 12 months we aim to:
- Obtain insights to understand what individuals actually need, and what businesses need to provide that support
- Open up a support network for businesses to help them gain insight into how to increase diversity, empower access, and enhance wellbeing in their businesses.
- Become the ‘go to’ support network for Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing for businesses.
- Form alliances between organisations and collaboratively build a support and resource hub on the 3 key focus areas: Coping through Covid, Leadership in Wellbeing, and Managing Wellbeing in the Workplace.
