Tonic Rider is a programme launched in 2021 by the registered charity Tonic Music  for Mental Health – promoting good mental health in the music industry. 

The programme is FREE to ALL music professionals and consists of the following  taught workshops, support groups and training courses delivered online (via Zoom): 

Acceptance Commitment Therapy – two-hour workshop teaching music professionals  to reduce unwanted thoughts using mindfulness practice and values to direct  change. 

Emotional Resilience – two-hour workshop teaching music professionals to regulate  emotions in everyday life and practical ways of coping even in the most difficult of  times. 

Mental Health Awareness in the Music Industry – six-hour CPD accredited course  training music professionals about the unique mental health issues present in the  music industry. 

Mental Health First Aid – two-day course training music professionals how to identify  and help someone who may be experiencing poor mental health. 

Music Performance Anxiety – two-hour workshop teaching music professionals to  understand and manage the effects of music performance anxiety. 

Peer Support Group – weekly 90-minute group across six weeks supporting music  professionals in a safe space to share their experiences with fellow music  professionals. 

Suicide Intervention – five-hour course training music professionals to identify and act  appropriately in a situation where someone is having thoughts of suicide. 

Wellbeing Group – weekly 90-minute group across six weeks supporting music  professionals with practical skills to improve mental and physical health. 

Each workshop, group and course are facilitated by qualified mental health practitioners (all with music backgrounds), using a non-clinical approach for music professionals to support themselves and others working in the music industry.
