Your Message Re: Representation in Support of Heaven Nightclub - Licensing Review - 24/07512/LIREVX I am writing to you as a patron of Heaven and a supporter of London’s vibrant nightlife to express my support for Heaven nightclub as an essential part of our community and the cultural fabric of London. As the Licensing Authority considers Heaven’s future in light of recent serious incidents, I want to emphasise the invaluable and irreplaceable role the venue plays in Westminster, across London, and on a national level. Heaven has established itself over decades as a beacon for inclusivity, diversity, and celebration within the heart of the city. This venue is not just a nightclub; it is a safe space where LGBTQ+ individuals and allies from all walks of life come together. For many, it represents a sanctuary where they feel seen, accepted, and able to express themselves freely. Heaven’s significance extends far beyond its doors—it is a cornerstone of London's cultural identity and a symbol of progress in supporting marginalised communities. We acknowledge the gravity of the incidents that have led to this review and agree that safeguarding measures must be prioritised to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons and staff alike. However, we urge the Licensing Sub-Committee to work collaboratively with the management of Heaven to enhance its operations and implement improved safeguarding measures rather than consider revocation of its license or reducing its hours or capacity, which would seriously damage the business of any nightlife venue. The potential loss of Heaven would leave an unfillable void in our city's LGBTQ+ community, especially at a time when safe spaces for marginalised groups are increasingly under threat. Venues like Heaven play a vital role in reducing social isolation, fostering community connections, and celebrating diversity in ways that benefit both individuals and society as a whole. Its cultural heritage and historical importance within London’s nightlife are unparalleled, and the repercussions of its closure would resonate far beyond the borough of Westminster. We believe that a balanced approach can be achieved, one that addresses the concerns raised through constructive dialogue, collaboration, and accountability while preserving the venue's invaluable contributions to London’s social and cultural fabric. We strongly advocate for a resolution that reflects the importance of Heaven to its patrons, its long-standing reputation as a safe and inclusive space, and its broader significance within our society. Thank you for considering this representation, and I trust that the Licensing Authority will give thoughtful consideration to a collaborative approach to safeguarding within the venue, whilst considering the unique role that Heaven plays within the Westminster community and beyond. Yours faithfully,
