Responding to the statement this afternoon where the First Minister outlined plans to introduce vaccine certification in Scotland, Chief Executive of the Scottish Beer & Pub Association (SBPA) Emma McClarkin said:
“Our sector’s recovery is at a critical stage, so recognition covid certification will not apply in pubs at this stage is vital. Layering restrictions back on now would have meant thousands of businesses not surviving to the end of the year, resulting in the loss of jobs, homes, and the heart of communities across Scotland.
“Our sector already implements the highest standards in Health & Safety and hygiene, so it’s positive this has been recognised. We remain committed to working with the Scottish Government to limit the spread of the virus, whilst allowing the hospitality sector to trade viably.”
